A little taste of bitterness

“I was sure to win after the last turn” says Lenie Suzineau who rode L’As de Pembo in the big steeple chase at Merano. “I know I did my best, and we were beaten by a better horse, but in this job you are only satidfied when you are the winner, not the runner up!”

Synaptique who was very fresh but not totally fit, as this race was not his real target, ran very well, runner up to Sable des Ongrais, an estimated horse.
In the “grand steeple” de Strasbourg, Le Bazin, ridden by Jacques Ricou jumped carefully and was an easy winner just before Mistral Boy who ran one of his best races!

At Fontainbelau, after almost 450 days without racing, Mont du Val Mrs. Belinda Harvey’s chestnut, made his come back over the chase for the first time. He was ridden by David Cottin who commented: “I followed the leaders, after the second last, they opened the way and the horse finished flying!”
Even if he did not “fly”, he also won with Oui who said “yes” this time.
Calideo, winner last year in England also won at Fontainebleau over the chase ridden by Anthony Lecordier.

James Reveley was in charge of Chocolat at Niort. He followed the leaders for one circuit, then led the race and was an easy winner with Mr. Nock’s filly.

Craon 2008

Black Sunday.

The sun is shining at Craon and the start of the day is perfect : Maxedy is a winner just before Quecy de Chadzeau, runner up.
We are all waiting for the big steeple chase: two weeks ago Leader du Cochet won easily on the same race course. No one should beat him today except….
Except a fatal fall!
Lenie the jockey is so shocked he cannot stop crying.
The owners, Mr. and Mrs.Montauban are devastated. They have already lost one champion, Jair du Cochet why has this small, big hearted horse have to leave so early?

Leader du Cochet Leader du Cochet Leader du Cochet

The lady who looks after him and keeps him when he has a break assists the vet in the last moment. She was just in love with him.
We leave the race course with a taste of disgust.
Winners at Compiegne, James Reveley wins with both Grisdoun and Sultan Cyborg
